December 10, 2013 at 11:24 AM
Following successful concert events in 2013, the Oasis Project is proud to bring more great artists to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Warden Oasis Theater in 2014. March 8th and 9th, 2014 will feature live performances by Jessi Colter and John Oates.
Jessi Colter - Saturday, March 8th at 6:30 pm
The Oasis Project welcomes Arizona native and singer-songwriter Jessi Colter to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Warden Oasis Theater Saturday, March 8th at 6:30 pm. Colter is best known for work with husband Waylon Jennings, her 1975 self-penned country and pop hit, “I’m Not Lisa,” and Wanted! The Outlaws, a collaboration with Jennings, Willie Nelson and Tompall Glaser that became the first Nashville album to sell a million copies. More recently, No Depression praised her 2003 release, An Outlaw … A Lady: The Very Best of Jessi Colter, as "one of the more important and plain necessary releases of the year." Colter’s legacy was showcased again in 2006 with the release of Out of the Ashes. She remains one of modern music's singular talents, a singer, songwriter and entertainer whose influence continues to echo across musical genres and remains a driving force in country music.
John Oates - Sunday, March 9th at 4:30 pm
American Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee John Oates will take the Warden Oasis Theater stage on Sunday, March 9th at 4:30 pm as part of the Oasis Project concert series. Oates is currently touring to support his recent solo effort, A Good Road to Follow, which has been lauded by No Depression as a return to the artist’s musical roots. Terry Roland proclaims of Oates, “Through music he’s a storyteller, a painter, an adventurer, a craftsman, a poet and an engaging historian of popular music...he’s a pioneer of the Americana brand.” The styles of the tracks cross many musical genres and are written by Oates and top collaborators. When not touring with his solo show, Oates performs regularly with his Hall & Oates band mate, Daryl Hall. As half of the influential duo, Oates has been recognized with numerous American Music and MTV awards as well as multiple GRAMMY nominations. Live audiences are dazzled by Oates’ deft guitar playing and the sheer range of his voice; he is an entertainer in the truest form of the word. Oates will be performing original material as well as a few Hall & Oates favorites during the show.
Tickets for both concerts will be available in January, so stay tuned!
